The Strength of Her

The exhibition, "The Strength of Her," is also the name of the painting pictured at right. “The Strength of Her” relates to the strength and resilience of Mother Nature and of individuals and their ability to overcome challenge.

I love to capture photographs of plants in the natural world but also find myself captivated by plants pushing through concrete cracks in cities and on highways. , They remind me that we can find ways to live, grow and thrive despite adversity.

I see beauty in every stage of both plant and human life, and the life cycles of plants mirror those of people. From new life, to growth and change, to decline and decay, there is always beauty.

Even in death, we are reminded of the power of love and how it enriches our lives. My artwork is infused with the beauty of nature and the significance of human connections.

“In the case of our visit to Stefanie Stark’s studio, we knew her work was pleasing as well as distinctive but were delighted to discover the quality of mark making, of composition and color selection. The artist’s work has an active quality about it that is at once considered and at the same time uninhibited. Comparisons to the work of Joan Mitchell, Elaine de Kooning and Perle Fine come easily to mind although Stark’s palette is all her own and of her time.”
